The last stage of the Erasmus+ KA2 project Cyber-In officially started last week during our transnational meeting in Roskilde (Denmark). After researching about cybersecurity skills in OT environments, with the collaboration of almost 40 companies from Basque Country, Denmark, Italy, Estonia and the Netherlands, and the development of training materials addressed to VET teachers/trainers we are now in the stage of involving students to benefit from a higher knowledge and skills in terms of cybersecurity in industrial environments. From October to December, teachers from Maristak Durango (ES), Roskilde Technical School (DK) and ROC Da Vinci (NL) will work to develop a challenge based activity addressed to students in IT and OT programmes, promoting their international and transdisciplinary collaboration. Students will have 3 months to solve the challenge proposed and will present their findings at the beginning of March in Durango (Basque Country). VR4VET. Final meeting in Vitoria for the imminent launch of the application
The use of virtual reality has proven to have advantages for student learning: greater attention for longer periods of time, unlimited iteration, a safe environment… And these are the premises we have used to develop the VR4VET environment for developing customer service skills among VET students. The project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Program and coordinated by the Finnish school Gradia College, has developed various interaction scenarios applicable to courses related to hospitality, hairdressing and aesthetics, business administration and management, and commerce. After piloting with VET teachers from centers in Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, and the Basque Country, and soon to conclude the pilot with students from these schools, the application will be available on the project website (https://blogit.gradia.fi/vr4vet/) throughout November 2025, along with the manual for its independent use. In the case of HETEL, the Egibide (Vitoria) and Sopeña Bilbao school have been responsible for conducting the pilot project and will be the first to incorporate these materials into the training programs.
Defining Sustainable Competencies for Vocational Programs in the Construction and Building Maintenance Sector: Progress of the GeTinVET Project
Last week, Ander Arrese, a teacher from the Otxarkoaga Vocational Training Center, and Aitor Ruiz, HETEL’s European Projects Manager, participated in the third transnational meeting of the Erasmus+ GeTinVET project, held in Kouvola, Finland, on September 12-13, 2024. This meeting marks an important milestone in the development of this ambitious European project focused on sustainability in vocational education and training. About GeTinVETThe GeTinVET project (Greening Education and Training in Vocational Education and Training) aims to identify and improve the sustainability competencies of students in vocational programs related to the construction and building maintenance sectors. This initiative, which began in 2023 and will continue until 2026, brings together partners from five European countries: Project ProgressDuring the meeting in Kouvola, the partners discussed several key aspects of the project, all focused on defining and developing sustainable competencies: The GeTinVET project is making great progress toward its goal of defining and developing sustainable competencies for vocational programs in the construction and building maintenance sectors. The first tangible results are expected to be available following the Naples meeting in November. These results will be crucial in enhancing sustainability training in the sector at the European level. Learning to embed international competences in VET curricula
This week in Helsinki we have had the opportunity to learn about the resources created by the Erasmus+ KA2 funded project, Build@Home, to embed internationalisation in training provision of vocational schools. Through the site www.buildathome.online, we have discovered different tools to foster the strategic thinking about why to care about internationalisation in vocational education, tools to create our own plan of approach to involve all staff (and students) in our schools and tools to implement our own internationalisation at home activities. Thanks to the exchange among participants from Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Italy and the Basque Country, HETEL´s team has come back inspired and greatly motivated to make internationalisation a reality for all of our students!
